This is one of the really special places you find in Bali now and then, with a magical, peaceful energy. It’s a modest little hotel with every detail taken care of. I really appreciated how committed the staff and setup of all the systems in this place seem to be totally optimised.
The beautiful check-in staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, and I was given thorough explanations about everything I might need or want. My bags were carried to my large, spotless, 2nd-floor room, and in the room was a large folder with well written details of all kinds of info about not just the hotel services but Bali customs, private classes or tours that can be arranged, road rules, and other good advice. I received a lovely welcome drink too.
Room service was inexpensive and quick. Wifi was strong. Pool was warm and clean. Very central location yet super quiet — a 5 minute walk through a couple of alleyways and you’re in the middle of Jl Hanoman. Very reasonably priced too, and I had a balcony with table and chairs. Loved this place! Will definitely stay again, and will be recommending Batu Empug to anyone needing central accomodation in Ubud.
